A sanatorium in the foothills of the Western Tien Shan
Chotqol was founded in 1975 as the sanatorium of the State Committee for Geology of Uzbekistan. Today it is a specialised health resort with 380 beds for rest, recovery and the prevention of disease, open all year round.
The sanatorium lies in the town of Gazalkent in Bostanliq district, on the left bank of the Chirchiq River, 610 metres above sea level and about 55 km — roughly 40 minutes by car — from Tashkent. To the north-east and south rise the spurs of the Western Tien Shan: the Ugam, Pskem, Chatkal and Kurama ranges.
The climate is mild: summers are not scorching and winters are warm, with an average annual temperature of +11.5 °C. Dry, clean mountain air, plenty of sunshine and air ionised by the nearby Chirchiq create good conditions for both rest and treatment.
The 9-hectare grounds are a green park with conifers and a birch grove, a pond with ornamental fish and a mini zoo with peacocks, pheasants and other birds.
The sanatorium has its own mineral water well, 1,400 metres deep. The water reaches the surface at around +48 °C: it is a low-mineralised (about 1.1 g/L) bicarbonate-chloride-sulphate, magnesium-sodium, nitrogen-thermal water with a pH of 7.8. It is used for therapeutic baths, in the pool and for drinking as prescribed by the doctor.
Guests come to Chotqol from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China and other countries.

- 2014Rehabilitation centreIn April 2014 the sanatorium was reorganised into the CHOTQOL Rehabilitation Centre.

Medical facilities
A modern treatment building with a laboratory and the main medical rooms. The sanatorium specialises in recovery and prevention for cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal, digestive and respiratory conditions. Treatment draws on natural factors — clean air, climate and mineral water — combined with physiotherapy, exercise therapy and therapeutic nutrition.
